Self-Care for Caregivers

Purpose: To give caregivers the tools to practice effective self-care
   
Description: As a caregiver, it’s essential that you have a manageable way to care for yourself, maintain your optimum health, and enhance your sense of well being.  As flight attendants remind us, we must first put on our own oxygen masks if we want to be able to assist others!  We begin this session by assessing your overall state of wellness, looking at the areas of fitness, nutrition, chemical dependency, stress management, personal hygiene, disease prevention, emotional well-being, personal safety, and environmental health.  This allows you to identify your priorities as you then learn to align all aspects of your health and create a realistic action plan to achieve your goals one small step at a time.
   
Objectives:
  • Assess your overall state of wellness
  • Learn to align all aspects of your health as a caregiver
  • Understand the importance of nine wellness categories and ways to improve your lifestyle in each
  • Create a realistic action plan to achieve your goals one small step at a time
