Letting go–Forgiving Yourself and Others

     

Workshop Length:   60 – 90 minutes
   
Purpose:    To explore the true meaning of forgiveness and proven methods to forgive ourselves and others to experience greater peace
   
Description:   Forgiveness is a common topic today, even outside spiritual circles. Despite countless books, sermons, and programs on forgiveness, many people struggle to forgive themselves or others, even up to the end of their lives. Hospice chaplains refer to forgiveness pain as the common cold of spiritual pain. This workshop clarifies the meaning of forgiveness and how essential it is for lasting peace. From there, participants explore six forgiveness techniques and how each can be used.
   
Objectives:
  • Explain common misconceptions about forgiveness
  • Define forgiveness and consider forgiveness of both self and others
  • Explore the benefits of forgiving
  • Assess their own level of forgiveness pain
  • Describe six different methods for achieving forgiveness
  • Create an action plan to use one of the methods to achieve forgiveness
